Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson left practice on Sunday morning after suffering a mild groin injury during one-on-one drills.

Head coach Gary Kubiak said he took Johnson out of practice as a precaution. The five-time Pro Bowler, who missed nine games with hamstring injuries last season and had arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason, will miss at least "a few" days of practice, Kubiak said.

"(It was) a one-on-one drill and (he) tweaked his groin a little bit," Kubiak said. "I told Kap (head at hletic trainer Geoff Kaplan) to just go ahead and take him in, let's go ahead and get it looked at. Don't think it's anything significant. Obviously, Andre has worked so dang hard to get back and get back on the field full-speed, so it's disappointing, but I don't think we're staring at anything significant."

Kubiak said Johnson has not had previous issues with his groin.

"He went down for a ball and he felt it pull a little bit," Kubiak said. "He wanted to go some more. We're the ones that pulled him out. We'll be Smart with him, but obviously, we need him back out here as quick as possible."

Johnson had fully participated in the first practice of training camp on Saturday, saying he was so excited to be back on the field that he couldn't sleep on Friday night.

"It's a big piece of the puzzle, and we all know that, but we'll get him right," Kubiak said. "Like I said, I'm not too concerned right now, from what I'm hearing.

"(We're being) overly cautious right now. Doctors looked at it, felt like it was fin. We're going to go get it looked at to make sure. Hopefully, we're talking about a few days, and if it's a few days, we'll be smart and make it a few more and he'll be back out here. I think the fact that it's a very mild whatever it was is good news."
