Big Numbers Heading into Week 5 | Daily Brew

It's been a chaotic week in Houston, but hopefully it'll culminate in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Let's dive into the numbers in this one.

15 - the total number of points that the Texans gave up in two games to the Jaguars in 2019. This year's Jaguar offense is averaging well over that number - nearly 24 points per game.

98 - the total number of sacks J.J. Watt has in his career, just two short of the magic number 100.

16 - the number of J.J. Watt sacks against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 14 games. At that pace, Watt will get at least one to inch ever so closer to 100.

20 - Texans tight end Jordan Akins has at least one catch in 20 of his last 21 games. The only game in which he didn't have a catch was against Tampa Bay in Week 16 of the 2019 season.

16 - The number of games in which Whitney Mercilus has recorded 1.5+ sacks in his career. He posted another one last week against the Minnesota Vikings.

3 - This is a unique one, honestly. In every game that Kenny Stills has played for the Texans in which he scored a touchdown, he has had no more than three catches in any game.

2019
New Orleans - three for 37 yards and a touchdown
New England - three for 61 yards and a touchdown
Tennessee - three for 35 yards and two touchdowns
Kansas City playoff game - three for 80 yards and one touchdown

2020
Minnesota - two for 39 and a touchdown

2 - The number of touchdowns the Jaguars have scored in the past four outings against the Texans (both games in 2018 and 2019)

25 - The total number of points the Jaguars scored in four matchups with the Texans in 2018 and 2019.

79 - The total number of points the Texans scored in those same four matchups in 2018 and 2019.

45 - The number of points the Jaguars scored against the Texans in their last win over Houston in December 2017.

10 - The number of years since the Jaguars and Texans split the season series. 2010 was the last year in which each team won a game. The Texans swept the Jaguars 2011 & 2012, 2014 - 2016, 2018 - 2019, while the Jaguars swept the series in 2013 and 2017.

662 - The number of passes Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II threw in his senior year at Washington State (in 13 games)

617 - The number of passes Minshew II has thrown in two years with the Jaguars (in 18 games)

281 - The days since the Texans last win (January 4, 2020 in playoffs v. Buffalo) and Sunday when, hopefully, a new winning streak starts.

Alright, those were some good ones today, if I don't say so myself. See you Sunday, everyone!
