Ed Reed turned 35 on Wednesday. His teammates gave him a walker, as well as a birthday cake that resembled a yellow Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket. His head coach gave him more work.
Gary Kubiak said Reed "tooki his reps and more" during a practice outside at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
"We were pretty light at practice today with such a quick turnaround," Kubiak said. "Practice was pretty much a jog through."
Reed was inactive for Monday night's win at San Diego, as he continues to return from a hip injury. Whether or not the veteran free safety suits up for the Week 2 matchup Sunday against the Titans depends on what Kubiak sees on Thursday.
"I'm probably answering that question better tomorrow," Kubiak said. "He's progressing. He's doing good. So we'll see where we're at."
Shiloh Keo started at free safety against the Chargers.
Strong safety Danieal Manning wrapped up a walker and gave it to Reed as a joke. Linebacker Brian Cushing joked that Reed's next gift would be "hair dye".
