BWTB: Texans-Colts connections

!

When the Texans face the Colts this Sunday on the road, the two clubs will share some connections.

Texans general manager Rick Smith and defensive line assistant Jeff Zgonina played at Purdue together in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Smith, Zgonina and Indianapolis' general manager Ryan Grigson played together at Purdue in 1991. Defensive line coach Bill Kollar coached for the Boilermakers in 1988 and 1989.

Running back Deji Karim played last season for the Colts. In Week 17 against the Texans, his 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown proved to be a back-breaker for his future team, as Indianapolis took back

a lead they would never relinquish in the 28-16 triumph.

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck is a Houstonian. He was a schoolboy star at Stratford High School on the west side of town, and his father Oliver was a Houston Oilers quarterback in the early 1980's.

Colts defensive end Cory Redding starred at North Shore High School, before moving on to Texas for college.

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson and center Chris Myers played at the University of Miami while Colts' head coach Chuck Pagano was an assistant at the school.
