C.J. Stroud was happy after Sunday's road victory over the Colts, but he was also eager to fix some things for the future.
The Texans triumphed, 29-27, at Indianapolis, and Stroud completed 24-of-32 passes for 234 yards with a pair of touchdown passes. Both those scoring strikes went to Stefon Diggs, and Stroud completed the day with a passer rating of 115.9. It was the second victory for Stroud at Lucas Oil Stadium in as many games. There was much to celebrate, but Stroud also had a critical eye on some areas for improvement.
"We definitely did have a ton of great things, but we definitely have some things to work on," Stroud said. "But this is Week 1. Everybody's rusty."
Stroud guided the Texans to scoring drives on six of their 10 possessions. He and the Texans didn't turn the ball over either, and the offense rumbled for 213 yards on 40 carries.
"If you can come out Week 1 and get a dub against a divisional opponent, it's huge," Stroud said. "I think everybody played well on offense. We just got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and we'll keep rolling. Man I think this offense is just getting started. So I'm very excited."
Head Coach DeMeco Ryans was pleased with what he saw from Stroud, who was sacked four times and hit a total of 10 times by the Indianapolis defense.
"He made a lot of good plays for us," Ryans said. "He was pressured a lot, but he still moved around and made plays, escaped the pocket. The plays on the move were really exciting plays to see.
Stroud and the Texans fly home this evening. They'll host the Bears next Sunday night at NRG Stadium.
