The Texans signed offensive tackle Cliff Washburn on Monday.

The Texans had a couple of players go down in their 19-16 win over the Broncos. Running back Ahman Green and wideout Tim Carter suffered injuries. The team signed offensive tackle Cliff Washburn and could be in the market for more free agents.

Injury news: The Texans lost Ahman Green on the first play of Saturday's game against Denver. Green pulled his groin and will be listed as day-to-day. Initial tests indicate that the running back should be healthy before the regular season begins.

"He feels like he's going to be fine," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I would see him kind of like I saw Andre (Johnson) when he came off this pull he had. We'll be smart, and hopefully he (Green) is back within a week."

Johnson suffered a similar groin injury earlier in training camp and has been sidelined for the last week. The coaches want to protect the Pro Bowl wideout and there is no timetable for his return.

The receiving corps also is without Tim Carter, who suffered a head injury from a Denver hit.

"He got dinged pretty good the other night," Kubiak said. "He played through it, played the whole game. (He) has experienced some headaches in the last two days. We're getting him checked out."

The team is looking at free agent receivers and running backs to help replenish the ranks.

"We continue to talk with a few people out there," Kubiak said. "We're in a situation now really where we are day-to-day. Today we're down a receiver. Andre is down. Carter's down, so you've got problems there. We know we'd like to have another set of legs in camp, but at the same time we've got a very competitive environment at running back and we've got to figure out who our guys are going to be. It's day-to-day. You may see us bouncing around, making various moves from here on out."

Chris Brown 100 percent: Running back Chris Brown will get the bulk of the carries this week. Brown missed several days of practice with a sore back and did not play on Saturday.

"It's always difficult sitting and watching," Brown said. "You want to be out there. You want to be out there getting back into the feel of things.

"I have been in this league for a while now. I've seen it all. I really wanted to go out there and play, but that's coach's decision."

With Green out, Brown will get a chance against the Saints to prove he can be a go-to guy.

"I feel good," Brown said. "I did good last week, so hopefully just keep going on that and take that into Saturday."

Texans sign tackle, Weary recovering: The Texans signed tackle Cliff Washburn Monday to compensate for three injured offensive linemen: Ephraim Salaam, Fred Weary and Scott Jackson. To read more about Washburn, **click here**.

Weary had the screws removed from the leg he broke in December. The screw placement had been giving Weary problems and delaying his recovery. The Texans believe that Weary is capably of starting, but they need him to be able to start contributing soon.

"We know what type of player he is, we know what type of person he is on this team," Kubiak said. "We've got to know that he's going to be available to us as a player. We're not going to push him back too soon. But it is important that we do push or that he pushes himself so we can see how far we can come in the next few weeks."

Texans bowl-athon: After practice, the entire team headed to Palace Lanes for a bowling tournament.

"We do it in the offseason and we come back and we crown a champion," Kubiak said. "So we'll find out who the best bowlers are tonight. They have a good time. We're going to do it early today because I've got to get them home early to pack."

Guard Mike Brisiel and defensive end Tim Bulman are rumored to be the top bowlers on the team.
