Linebacker Brian Cushing wanted to make an immediate impact in his rookie season. Mission accomplished.

Today, the first-round pick (No. 15 overall) from USC received his third nomination of the year for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors after collecting a team-high 10 tackles, a sack and an interception in the Texans' 31-10 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Two weeks ago, Cushing was nominated for the award for the second time after recording nine tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception in the Texans' Week 6 win at Cincinnati. His effort earned him AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, and he was the first rookie to win that award this season.

Cushing received his first Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week nomination in Week 2, when he had a team-high 10 tackles, including two for a loss, and one pass defensed in the Texans' 34-31 win at Tennessee.

Voting for Pepsi Rookie of the Week is open until Friday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. CT.

Other nominees include: Buffalo safety Jairus Byrd, Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin, Panthers cornerback Sherrod Martin and Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb.
