Ed Reed back in Colorado with hip specialist

Ed Reed is back in Colorado.

According to head coach Gary Kubiak, the veteran safety is back with a specialist as part of his rehab from hip surgery he underwent in April.

"He is in Vail, today, getting some injections and spending time with his surgeon," Kubiak said during a Monday afternoon press conference. "I think there's one more trip planned, to Atlanta."

Reed signed with the Texans on March 22, and in the weeks following, said he suffered a hip injury while working out. He had surgery in April and has been rehabbing it since, missing all of OTA's and Training Camp. During camp, he worked out on side fields under the direction of the team's medical training staff. Kubiak remains optimistic about Reed's return, and thinks the team will know much more about Reed's future on Friday.

"I think we're going to really have a good idea of where we're at, coming out of Dallas and starting our preparation," Kubiak said. "Because we do have ten days or something like that to get ready for San Diego."

Reed was on the sidelines for Sunday's preseason contest agains the Saints.
