Students from School Spirit Contest winner Coop Elementary School show their spirit on Go Texans Day.

To celebrate the Houston Texans' sixth season, Houston Independent School District employees and students proudly donned their Houston Texans' gear or colors of red, white and blue for "Go Texans Day" on Friday, September 7, 2007. There was a sea of red, white and blue at the administrative building and on school campuses. Schools participated in the School Spirit Contest and HISD employees at the Hattie Mae White Eduational Support Center vied for the bragging rights as the Ultimate Texans Fan.

Schools participated in the School Spirit Contest by decorating their campuses with posters, murals, banners, etc., then submitting three photos that demonstrated their zeal, zest, and zing for the Houston Texans. A committee composed of representatives from HISD's Strategic Partnerships Department and the Houston Texans Foundation selected five winning schools. The winning schools were Coop Elementary School, Gregory-Lincoln Education Center, J.R. Harris Elementary School, Love Elementary School and Patrick Henry Middle School.

These winning schools will receive a visit from Houston Texans cheerleaders, TORO, or a player. They will also receive an autographed football for the school and other Texans gifts. The Grand Winner, Coop Elementary School, will host a Houston Texans Gatorade Junior Training Camp for 200 selected students at the school.

Not to be outdone by the spirited students and faculty members at HISD schools, employees at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center took on the challenge of competing in the Go Texans Day contest. An energetic, Texans gear clad duo from the Accounting Department, Doretha Jacquet and Frances Woods, were selected as the winners. They received numerous Texans affinity items, including a jersey and clock.
