HOUSTON – Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), the sister company of the Houston Texans, announced today that it has acquired the League One Volleyball (LOVB) Houston team. Spearheaded by Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair and Vice President of the Houston Texans Foundation Hannah McNair, LSSE further invests in Houston's sports landscape while advancing both youth and female sports.
Founded in 2020, LOVB is the largest community in youth volleyball, and its professional volleyball league will embark on its second season this January. The pro league features teams in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City, showcasing championship-caliber athletes, elite coaches, and world-class staff. Los Angeles is slated to join the league in 2027. LOVB has drawn leading investors across sports, entertainment and business who all believe in the deliberate, community-first approach to its growth.
"We are always looking at creative ways to establish a better ecosystem around the Texans and LOVB is another example of that," said Cal McNair. "This continues to grow our fanbase, makes sports more accessible and is an investment in the Houston community. It aligns with everything we are doing to provide a world-class experience for our fans and champion a competitive advantage for female athletes."
"The more we learned about LOVB throughout this process, the more it felt like a natural fit for us to invest and be a part of what they're building," said Hannah McNair. "It has always been a priority for us to elevate sports opportunities in Houston, especially for women and youth, and this falls right in line with that initiative. Similar to our investment in flag football, we believe this will make a major impact on the community and grow our fan base in H-Town, where volleyball is booming in popularity. LOVB has created a powerful pipeline from the grassroots to the pros, and as a result, the world's top talent consistently wants to play here. We look forward to helping make LOVB Houston a must-see experience for fans across our city."
LOVB has reimagined professional volleyball through a community-up model that unites youth, collegiate, and professional athletes within one connected ecosystem. In Houston, that includes the nationally ranked Houston Skyline junior club, with more than 1,300 athletes across the city. This integrated approach drives participation, develops elite talent, and builds lifelong fandom by linking local communities directly to the professional stage.
"Cal and Hannah McNair deeply care about the Houston community, and their passion for growing Houston sports makes them an ideal partner," said Rosie Spaulding, President for LOVB Pro. "Their proven track record of championing athletes from youth to pro and building community impact is exactly what will power this next stage of LOVB Houston's success, so we're thrilled to welcome them to LOVB."
Today's announcement comes as LOVB Houston unveils its 2026 season calendar, kicking off at the Berry Center on January 8, 2026. With an expanded schedule that features 10 home matches, LOVB Houston is introducing the Berry Center alongside the Fort Bend County Epicenter as its home venues for 2026. Featuring two-time Olympic Medalist and 2025 LOVB Pro Opposite Hitter of the Year Jordan Thompson, two-time Olympic Medalist Micha Hancock, and NCAA Champion and Tournament MVP Jess Mruzik, LOVB Houston is now back in the practice gym as they get ready for their home opener. Tickets are now on sale at www.lovbhtx.com.
LOVB's commitment to building something lasting is reflected not just in the roster, but in LOVB's team ownership model, which unites team and league equity to align incentives for long-term growth. With more than 46 million volleyball fans in the U.S., LOVB continues to expand access to the sport while shaping the future of professional volleyball nationwide, and together with LSSE as partners, drive fandom across Houston.
