J.J. Watt ranked 3rd on NFL Top 100 list

99 is number 3.

Defensive end J.J. Watt, who's won three of the last four AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, was voted as the third-best player in the NFL Network's 'NFL Top 100' list.

Watt was atop the list last year, 12th after the 2013 season, and fifth after the 2012 campaign.

Last season he led the NFL in sacks (17.5), tackles for loss (29) and quarterback hits (50). In six games last year he talliied two or more sacks.

Watt was the highest-ranked defensive player on the list, as quarterbacks Tom Brady and Cam Newton finished in the top two spots.

The NFL Network started the list after the 2010 season. While it has never specified which players voted, or how many players voted, the list is "voted on by the players themselves" and "this year's list received the most votes from current NFL players in the six-season history of the series."

Watt and the Texans begin training camp at the end of July.
