Jadeveon Clowney "ready" for the Bears

Game week is finally here, and Jadeveon Clowney is excited.

"I'm looking forward to it," the outside linebacker said Wednesday. "I've been practicing. In camp, everybody was hitting the same people. I'm ready to get on with the Bears."

Houston tangles with Chicago at noon CT on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Clowney and the defense have high expectations for themselves, but he said they have to work hard at it, and do so together.

"We can be pretty good," Clowney said. "We can be as good as we want to be if everybody comes together and works, like we've been doing. We've got a long way to go, but it's about to come now. Sunday we will see where we're at. We'll go out there and compete."

The first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft said he feels "pretty good" physically after battling foot and knee injuries over the last year. Being in the lineup on a regular basis is his primary goal, after playing in just four games as a rookie and 13 games last season. On the whole, he thinks the continuity on defense, with 10 starters returning will be a key.

"We've got a lot of good guys here," Clowney said. "A lot of guys that have been in the system for a while. It's like it's coming to us second-hand. A lot of guys know our system. We just come out here and put the pieces together. We're not really learning the defense. We're just getting better with it and headed in the right direction."
