John Simon's wild INT return for a TD

John Simon is a scoring machine.

The outside linebacker batted a Carson Palmer pass to himself and then rumbled 59 yards for a score, his second of the preseason.

"I was just coming off the ball and just felt the tight end kind of let me go a little bit," Simon said. "We've been trained through practice to kind of realize that's a screen."

Simon's pick-6 gave the Texans a 17-7 advantage with 14:08 remaining in the second quarter.

Two weeks ago in Santa Clara, Simon scooped up a 49ers fumble and returned it 41 yards for  a touchdown. After that game, he joked that he was "winded" from running for the score. Sunday, however, Simon said he was in better shape.

"A little better this week, but it was a longer return, so I was a bit tired," Simon said. "Had to hit the oxygen before we went back out there."

He's now tied with Will Fuller for the team lead in preseason touchdowns with two.

Palmer and the Cardinals were facing a 2nd-and-10 at the Texans 33-yard line. Simon broke up the pass, gathered it in, spun around and went untouched to the end zone.
