"Just step one" for DeVier Posey in Monday return

DeVier Posey was back on the practice field with his teammates Monday afternoon, catching passes and going through drills after passing a physical and being pulled off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Posey, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the playoff loss at New England, was back in action nearly seven months after the injury.

"I wondered what this day would be like for a long time," Posey said. "This is just step one for me, and I'm just trying to get back into it. The next time we practice, I'll do seven-on-seven, more stuff, get more involved."

Posey spent May and June working on the side field while his teammates went through OTA's, and did the same during late July and August while the Texans went through training camp. But he passed a physical late last week and was back in his number 11 jersey for the team's walkthrough at the Houston Methodist Training Center.

"You're proud of him, number one," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "Boy, has he worked."

Kubiak also wouldn't rule out the possibility of Posey playing this Sunday afternoon against the Saints.
