-Family is from Trinidad and Tobago
-His uncle Khari Joseph played football at Brown
-Earned four varsity football letters at Butler HS in North Carolina
-Was high school teammates with Texans offensive tackle Kendall Lamm
-Led his high school team to three undefeated seasons and 4AA state titles in 2009, 2011, 2012
-Also Lettered in basketball and track and field
- Was all-state in shot put and all-conference in the 4x100m, shot put and discus
