Meet the Rookie: TE Jordan Akins
-Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia
-6-3, 250 pounds
-Third Round, 34th pick (98th overall)
-Was a member of the UCF football signing class in 2010
-Selected in the third round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers
-Boasted 24 homers and 42 stolen bases in the 321 minor-league games played
-Played outfield and faced Major League baseball standouts Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, Yu Darvesh while in the minors

-In 2015, Akins opened the UCF football season as a starting wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner.
-Played in 13 games and started seven at tight end in 2016
-Averaged 15.1 yards per reception, leading all Knights with double-digit catches in 2016
-Named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, honoring the nation's top tight ends, after his 2017 performance
-Recorded career highs in 2017 in yards receiving (459), touchdowns (4) and catches (30)
-Played in the 2018 Senior Bowl on the South team, coached by Bill O'Brien and the Texans coaching staff
-Will wear No. 88 for the Texans
-A long-time fan of Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu
