Owen Daniels gives update on leg injury rehab

Owen Daniels is feeling better, but still doesn't know when he'll be back on the field with his teammates.

"I'm not real sure," the veteran tight end, who is coming back from a fractured tibia, said. "This week was the Alter-G, running on there and ramping up the percentage of body weight. I've got one more day to run tomorrow. Then we'll move to the field and we'll progress from there. I'm just following the protocol."

The running Daniels referenced is on a treadmill that can allow a person to run with varying degrees of weightlessness. Daniels was hurt in a Week 5 loss at San Francisco, and has been on the injured

reserve with designation to return since.

The eighth-year pro is opitmistic about the progress he's made.

"I think we've turned a corner in terms of how I'm feeling," Daniels said. "I had a pretty good amount of soreness in there in the middle portion of this whole process. Now it's getting better. I've had some days working out without any pain or anything. So I'm moving in the right direction."

Head coach Gary Kubiak said the Texans will have a good idea later this week, on when Daniels might return.

Daniels has 24 catches for 252 yards and three touchdowns in 2013.
