Jaylen Reed wanted to be a Texan, and his pre-Draft wish came true.

Houston selected the Penn State safety Saturday in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 187th pick.

"It felt amazing," Reed said. "It's the team that I always wanted to go to since I started the process, and I said something about them at the combine. I told the coach it would be a blessing just to have the opportunity to play for them."

Reed, who is 6-0 and weighs 211 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash at the Combine in 4.49 seconds. With the Nittany Lions, he started 29 games and appeared in 21 more during his career.

He started all 16 games last fall at safety, and finished with 98 tackles, 6.5 of which were for a loss. He also broke up six passes, picked off three more, and logged 2.5 sacks.

"I'm a versatile safety," Reed said. "I'm an aggressive safety. There are a lot of safeties in that room that I'm ready to learn after and learn from."

Reed is the second defensive back taken by Houston in this year's Draft, and he picked off five passes in his college career.
