Redskins announce hiring of Matt LaFleur

Confirming **previous speculation**, the Washington Redskins have announced the **hiring of Matt LaFleur as their quarterbacks coach**. It's a promotion for the 29-year-old coach, who spent the last two seasons as a Texans offensive assistant.

LaFleur worked with the Texans' quarterbacks in 2009 and wide receivers in 2008. His hiring by the Redskins was announced in the same team-issued release that made official the hiring of **former Texans offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan**.

"Matt spent the last two seasons with Kyle and is well-versed in the system that we are trying to bring here to Washington," Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said in the release. "I was very impressed with the work he did with Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson and I expect him to have a similar impact with the Redskins."

Congratulations to LaFleur, who's a class act. I've seen first-hand the tireless hours of hard work he put in as an offensive assistant. Nice to see that pay off for him.
