Schaub up for FedEx Air award

Quarterback Matt Schaub is on pace for approximately 37 touchdown passes this year.

Quarterback Matt Schaub leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 14 through six games. He tossed four of those scores this past week in the Texans' 28-17 win at Cincinnati, which has earned him his second nomination of the year for FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors.

Along with his four touchdowns, Schaub completed 28-of-40 passes for 392 yards with only one interception. On the year, Schaub has completed 65.3 percent of his throws for 1,810 yards with five interceptions for a career-high 102.7 passer rating. The sixth-year pro from Virginia also is averaging a career-high 8.3 yards per completion.

Voting is open until Friday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. CT.

Other players nominated include New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
