T.J. Yates has "back problem"

Case Keenum will start at quarterback Sunday against the Colts, but Monday at Reliant Stadium, interim head coach Wade Phillips said reserve quarterback T.J. Yates has something wrong with his back.

"T.J. has got a back problem right now," Phillips said. "We're wrestling with that."

Phillips said he was unsure how it happened.

"I don't know," Phillips said. ""I just him today and he was standing out there and they said he had had something with his back."

Yates was the backup during the first half of the season, and saw action at Baltimore, at San Francisco and at home against the Rams. He's completed 15-of-22 pass attempts for 98 yards.
