Team to join Kubiak on charity run

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was deeply inspired by participating in the Impact a Hero 5k Run for seriously wounded and disabled war veterans in 2007, so much so that he **set out to increase team involvement** when the event came around in 2008.

Mission accomplished.

Kubiak has enlisted the support of more than a dozen Texans players and coaches for the run, which takes place at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday at Mercer Stadium in Sugar Land. Registered players include quarterback Matt Schaub, center Chris Myers, fullback Jon Abbate, quarterback Shane Boyd and wide receiver Harry Williams.

Close to half of the Texans' coaching staff is expected to attend, including special teams coordinator Joe Marciano, offensive line coach John Benton, senior defensive assistant Frank Bush, running backs coach Chick Harris, defensive backs coach Jon Hoke, linebackers coach Johnny Holland, wide receivers coach Larry Kirksey, special teams assistant Richard Hightower and defensive assistant Robert Saleh. Many of the players and coaches are bringing their spouses or children along with them, and more players and coaches may show up to sign autographs.

The event includes a wheelchair race, a 5k race and a 1k kids' walk. On-site registration opens at 6 a.m. the day of the race, but interested participants are encouraged to register ahead of time on the organization's website **here**.
