Texans Hire Gaine and Roberts, Promote Wright

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have hired Brian Gaine as director of pro personnel, Daron Roberts as pro scout and have promoted Larry Wright to assistant director of pro personnel, the team announced today.

Gaine has 15 years of NFL experience and spent the last six seasons with the Miami Dolphins, serving as the team's assistant general manager the last two seasons. Prior to his arrival in Miami, Gaine spent three seasons (2005-07) as the assistant director of pro scouting  for the Dallas Cowboys after six years (1999-2004) in the New York Jets' Scouting Department, including serving as the Assistant Director of Pro Scouting in 2004.

Roberts comes to the Texans after one season with the Cleveland Browns where he was the defensive quality control coach.  A Texas native, Roberts previously served as wide recievers and cornerbacks coach at West Virginia University (2011-12), assistant secondary coach with the Detroit Lions (2009-10) and defensive quality control assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs (2008). Roberts attended the University of Texas where he earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and holds a law degree from Harvard Law School.

Wright was promoted after four seasons as a pro scout for the Texans. From 2007-09, Wright was an assistant director of pro personnel with the Jacksonville Jaguars after serving as a pro scout with the team from 2004-07. He began his NFL career as a scouting assistant with Jacksonville in 2003.
