Texans sign Comella

HOUSTON - The Houston Texans announced today that they have signed free agent fullback Greg Comella.

Comella (6-1, 248), has appeared in 76 games in his career, starting in 35. Comella spent the 2002 season as a member of the Tennessee Titans, playing in 12 games while starting seven at fullback. Last season, his blocking abilities paved the way for teammate Eddie George to register 1,165 yards. Prior to his 2002 campaign, he spent four seasons with the New York Giants, leading the way for another 1,000-yard rusher when Tiki Barber recorded 1,006 yards rushing. The former Stanford Cardinal has established himself as a steady weapon out of the backfield, catching 94 passes in his five-year career.

         To
         make room on the 53-man roster, the Texans will release a player to
         be named tomorrow.
