Texans sign DT Martin

HOUSTON- The Houston Texans announced today that they have signed defensive tackle Steve Martin and placed Seth Payne on the injured reserve list.

Martin (6-4, 292) has eight seasons (101 regular season games) of NFL experience and most recently played for the Green Bay Packers during training camp (2003). Since being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round (151st) of the 1996 NFL draft, out of the University of Missouri, Martin has logged 296 tackles and six and a half sacks. Martin recorded career highs in 1998 while starting 15 out of 16 games for the New York Jets, with 78 tackles and two and a half sacks.

The Texans also announced they have placed starting defensive tackle Seth Payne on the injured reserve list with a torn ACL in his left knee. He suffered the injury in the second quarter against the Saints (9-14-03).
