Week 3 fantasy picks

QB Matt Schaub is a safe pick in Week 3 of the Home Team Challenge

In Week 3 of the **Home Team Challenge**, the free fantasy football game with great prizes on HoustonTexans.com, the winning player receives an NFL Network Cooler with Radio and iPod Connection.

Don't forget that you can pick a new team each week and you have 300 points to construct a squad. For example: this week, Drew Brees will cost you 89 points, but the ultra-frugal-minded might go with Kellen Clemens, who is yours for just one point.

Here's my absolute…airtight…110%...guaranteedyouwillwinoryoucankeymyMercedesBenzlimo weekly fantasy advice, with a few players I like and a few players I don't.

PRICE IS RIGHT QB Peyton Manning, IND, 70 (@ ARI) Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning (and...GASP!!!...some might even say better than Johnny Unitas. Not me, though), and he faces an Arizona defense that's allowed a combined 37 points to San Francisco and Jacksonville. Neither team has the firepower of the Colts, so look for the crafty veteran to exploit the Cards' D on Sunday night. Manning, by the way, tossed a trio of touchdowns in last week's victory at Miami.

VALUE PICK QB Eli Manning, NYG, 52 (@ TB) If you don't want to splurge on the elder Manning, then taking the economical route with Eli is safe, and perhaps smarter. Through two weeks, Manning has guided the Giants to a pair of wins and he's thrown three touchdowns and for nearly 600 yards doing so. Plus, the Buccaneers are winless for a reason. Save some points, and pick Eli.

NOT WORTH IT RB Chris Johnson, TEN, 52 (@NYJ) Johnson exploded on the Texans defense last week in Tennessee, but that's not going to happen against the Jets this Sunday. For one thing, Johnson's numbers were padded by a couple busts by the Texans, and for another, the Jets made mincemeat of Houston's run game in Week 1, and then did the same to the Patriots last Sunday. This week, Johnson gets locked down. Stay away!

SLEEPER SPECIAL WR Steve Smith, CAR, 31 (@ DAL) Smith blew up with 12 catches for 131 yards in Week 2 against the Falcons, and with a trip to Arlington against the woeful Dallas secondary, look for Smith to find the end zone for the first time in 2009.

TEXANS FANTASY STARTER OF THE WEEK QB Matt Schaub, HOU, 58 (JAC) The reigning AFC Offensive Player of the Week is back home, on Battle Red Day, and the Texans have been money when wearing the red uniforms. Schaub will likely get some more help this week in the run game, so it'll open up more in the passing attack. Schaub's a solid choice in Week 3.
