DE Mario Williams and the Texans defense are primed for a big weekend points-wise in the Home Team Challenge.
In Week 8 of the **Home Team Challenge**, the free fantasy football game with great prizes on HoustonTexans.com, the winning player receives a football autographed by Texans' running back Steve Slaton.
Remember to pick your new team each week and use 300 points to construct a squad. For example: In Week 8, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning are the most expensive players points-wise, costing you a whopping 81 points. But if you're strapped for points elsewhere, try Carolina fullback Tony Fiammetta (in the RB section) for just one point.
Here's my absolute…airtight…110%...guaranteedyouwillwinoryoucankeymyMercedesBenzlimo weekly fantasy advice, with a few players I like and a few players I don't.
PRICE IS RIGHT QB Drew Brees, NO, 81 (vs. ATL) Every week I've labeled Brees a "Not Worth It," he's crushed me, pumping out at least three touchdown passes. He only threw one last week and was intercepted three times, but that was on the road in Miami. He's back in the Superdome taking on the Falcons, so pick Brees and let the good times roll.
VALUE PICK TE Vernon Davis, SF, 27 (@ IND) The NFL's leader in touchdown receptions caught three last Sunday against the Texans. He won't likely repeat that performance against the Colts, but teams can't clamp down on Davis like they used to with the addition of wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Look for Davis' numbers to stay steady the rest of the way. He's an excellent over-the-middle option for quarterback Alex Smith and always dangerous in the red zone. It's not out of the question to expect a minimum of a touchdown and at least 70 yards receiving on a weekly basis from Davis. Tack on the fact that he only costs you 27 points, and Davis is a steal.
NOT WORTH IT Eagles D/ST, 37, (vs. NYG) Philly hosts the Giants, and after locking down the Redskins, their numbers look great. But the Giants are not the train wreck that Washington is, and no defense is worth 37 points. Keep in mind, the Eagles LOST to Oakland. Stay away from Philadelphia's D and spread your points elsewhere.
SLEEPER SPECIAL QB Matt Schaub, 69 (@ BUF) I'm not sure when the rest of the world is going to take note of Matt Schaub and the Texans' offense. The man leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 16, yet he's a full 12 points cheaper than Manning or Brees. Only twice in 2009 has he failed to throw at least two touchdowns in a game, and he's cracked the 300-yard mark in four of his seven ballgames. I'm sure I have my Homer-Hat on when writing this, but the numbers don't lie.
TEXANS FANTASY STARTER OF THE WEEK Texans D/ST, 24 (@ BUF) Schaub is also a safe bet, but the Texans' defense has clamped down on the run game since Week 4, and they're taking on a Bills offensive line that will start three rookies as well as a second-year left tackle. Mario Williams & Co. will likely put up some nice numbers for you this weekend, and the Texans' special teams has shown the ability to break a big play at any time.
