Written Dear Drew: Free agency and Draft ?'s

Drew Dougherty answered a few questions from fans in the video above. He answered some more in the article below. Has your father talked to you lately about the importance of shoe trees?

Jonathon Lovil: DEAR DREW ARE WE MOVING UP IN DRAFT TO GET LEFT TACKLE?
DD: DEAR JONATHON IT WOULDN'T SURPRISE ME. BUT I THINK IF WE DID IT WOULD BE INTO THE SECOND ROUND AND NOT HIGHER.

Joshua Mccarty: Dear Drew, With D'Onta Foreman having an Achilles injury, can we expect an addition to the running back group either thru free agency or the draft?
DD: Absolutely, Joshua. Could happen both ways, could be one or the other, and then also count on the team adding a back or two or more who was an undrafted rookie. Lamar Miller, Foreman, Tyler Ervin and Troymaine Pope are the running backs currently on the roster. That number will rise before OTAs, for sure.

Ccbam Almaguer: Dear Drewster, With Deshaun Watson's rehab going good will we still see the mobile QB or are we looking to keep him more in the pocket?
DD: I think Watson will run a little bit less this season. But, he ran effectively last season, and I also think he ran judiciously. Bill O'Brien often pointed to Watson's ability to keep looking downfield for an open receiver when he scrambled. Also, whenever Watson did start running, he would often slide to avoid a big hit.

Ruben Revuelta: Dear Drew, After adding Aaron Colvin and Tyrann Matheu to the defensive backfield, do you think the Texans will look to add more pieces on defense? Or will they look to add more on the offensive side of the ball?
DD: Yes, and yes, Ruben. General manager Brian Gaine has said repeatedly that the Texans will explore every avenue to get better. They're not finished adding pieces on either side of the ball, or special teams, for that matter.

Daniel Eickhoff: Dear Drew, Greetings from Germany! What are your thoughts on the up-and-coming German NFL receiver EQ St. Brown? Do you see a chance the Texans could snag him in round three or later?
DD: He's an interesting talent, and certainly could be in play for the Texans. But I don't think they'd use one of their third-rounders on him.

Derwin Jordan: Dear Drew, What are the chances we take a chance on Adrian Peterson?
DD: Derwin, there's always a chance. He's had a house in the Houston area, has a gym in The Heights, and would make sense.

Mike Ledesma: Dear Drew, Kendall Lamm played pretty well last year. Do you see as the starting LT heading to preseason?
DD: No Mike, and that's based on what Bill O'Brien said Tuesday in Orlando. It looks like Julién Davenport will have the first crack at it. O'Brien said Davenport "may start off at left tackle. We'll give him that opportunity, see what type of shape he comes back in."

Alejandro Mazal: DD, There are still some interesting RBs and TEs out there, as well as other free agents, do you think the Texans will wait until after the draft to become active in free agency again?
DD: No Alejandro, I think you'll see them add free agents before and after the Draft. I don't think they're finished yet.
