Texans quarterback T.J. Yates is one of five finalists for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award. The winner is selected by fan voting on NFL.com.

Yates guided the Texans to a 17-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13 in his first NFL start. After stepping into the starting lineup for injured quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart, the fifth-round draft pick out of North Carolina completed 12-of-25 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. He became just the fourth rookie fifth-rounder since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger to win in his starting debut.

Voting began Tuesday at NFL.com/Rookies at 8 a.m. CT and ends Friday at 11 a.m. CT. The Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

The other nominees are outside linebacker Justin Houston of the Kansas City Chiefs, middle linebacker Colin McCarthy of the Tennessee Titans, quarterback Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Christian Ponder of the Minnesota Vikings.
