Clay Hampton enters his second season as director of football operations and team logistics with the Houston Texans in 2020. He spent the previous 28 years with the New York Jets, including the last 12 seasons as senior director of operations.
Hampton is responsible for overseeing the team's vast operational system, which includes team operations and grounds. In addition to his day-to-day functions with the team, including coordinating training camp, Hampton and his staff coordinate the team's travel, lodging and dining, as well as visiting teams' arrival procedures at NRG Stadium.
Hampton spent his first 16 years with the Jets in the equipment department, where he succeeded his father, Bill, as equipment manager in 2001 upon his dad's retirement after 37 years in the NFL. His first job with the Jets was as a ballboy on game day in 1983 at Shea Stadium. In 2011, Hampton won the Travel Manager of the Year Award as voted by the major hotel chains and airlines.
Hampton and his wife, Kelly, have one son, Bryce.
