Nick Caserio was named general manager of the Houston Texans on Jan. 7, 2021, becoming the fifth general manager in franchise history. He was given the additional title of executive vice president in 2023. Caserio joined the Texans after spending 20 seasons with the Patriots, including 18 in player personnel. During his time with New England, the team won six Super Bowl titles, which is tied for the most by any NFL franchise in league history.

The Texans under Caserio have shown a willingness to be both aggressive and progressive with the team-building approach. They have executed more trades than any team in the NFL since hiring Caserio, including a franchise-record eight during the 2023 NFL Draft and a combined 10 trades during the previous two drafts. Since 2021, the Texans have selected players like WR Nico Collins, CB Derek Stingley Jr., S Jalen Pitre, DE Will Anderson Jr., QB CJ Stroud, CB Kamari Lassiter and S Calen Bullock among others to form a core nucleus of young players for the organization to build around.

Caserio's steadfast approach helped land Head Coach DeMeco Ryans in 2023, and the two made history together as Houston became the first team in NFL history to win a division with a rookie quarterback and first-year head coach. Working alongside each other, Caserio and Ryans have won at least 10 games in three consecutive seasons, won two division titles and have made the playoffs three consecutive seasons. The Texans have won a Wild Card Playoff game in each of the last three seasons including earning the franchise's first road playoff win at Pittsburgh in the 2025 postseason.

In his 20 seasons with New England, the Patriots made the Super Bowl nine times with six wins, captured 17 AFC East division titles and were a playoff team in all but three seasons (2002, 2008 and 2020). Caserio was instrumental in drafting, signing and developing players who were essential pieces of one of the most successful dynasties in NFL history. Caserio was named the director of player personnel in 2008 after serving in a number of roles for the personnel department and coaching staff.

Following a three-year stint as the team's director of pro personnel (2004-06), Caserio coached the Patriots wide receivers in 2007, in which the offense helped break the NFL record for points scored (589) en route to an undefeated regular season.

Caserio joined the Patriots in June 2001 as a personnel assistant. During that season, his role was expanded to include film breakdown and scouting report preparation for the offensive staff. He became an offensive coaching assistant in February 2002 and returned to player personnel in 2003 as an area scout prior to becoming director of pro personnel in 2004. In addition to his duties in the personnel department, Caserio handled coaching booth responsibilities for the coaching staff on game days.

Caserio entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Saginaw Valley State University in 1999 and spent two seasons with the program. He joined the Patriots scouting department following a brief time with Central Michigan as a graduate assistant in the spring of 2001.

Caserio was a standout quarterback at John Carroll University, as the Blue Streaks compiled a 33-7-2 record in the four seasons he started for the team. He was a two-time captain and three-time All-Conference performer. In 1997, Caserio helped lead the team to a 10-2 record and the school's second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, where it advanced to the national quarterfinals.

Caserio grew up in Lyndhurst, Ohio. He earned his degree in finance from John Carroll University and later earned his master's degree of business administration from Saginaw Valley State University. Caserio was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection at John Carroll. Caserio and his wife, Kathleen, have three daughters, Whitley, Chatham and Charleston.
