The Houston Texans kicked off the 2025 preseason at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Minnesota Vikings on August 9, 2025.
Following their preseason opener, the Texans return home to prepare for the Carolina Panthers on August 16 at 12:00 p.m. at NRG Stadium. Tickets for the team's return to the field are available now.
Houston's first touchdown of the preseason came on a short pass from Davis Mills to Braxton Berrios. The newly-signed wideout took the ball and burst toward the endzone, leaping to touch the paint.
Mills was on target to John Metchie III, the Texans' leading receiver on the day. Metchie III found space in the Vikings defense moving left to right across the middle of the field, and Mills stepped into a dart to hit his wideout in stride.
Casey Toohill's speed and bend off the edge helped him secure a big sack on Brett Rypien. Sprinting around the back side, Toohill closed Rypien's escape hatch and wrapped up the QB in the backfield.
The consistent Ka'imi Fairbairn drilled his first field goal attempt of the preseason, launching a 43-yarder through the uprights.
Haggai Ndubuisi was the second player to wrap up Rypien. A well-timed blitz off the edge forced the QB to step up in the pocket and Ndubuisi won his battle, popping out of the line to muscle Rypien to the ground.
