Thursday is #DQStrong Day. Everone employed by the Texans organization will wear "Texans for DQ" t-shirts tomorrow in support of offensive lineman David Quessenberry's fight with lymphoma. Fans at Thursday morning's practice have been encouraged to wear the shirts as well, which have been on sale at Go Texan Store at NRG Stadium, and online at shop.houstontexans.com.
One of Quessenberry's best friends on the team, lineman Ben Jones, knows Thursday will be special.
"It'll definitely be an emotional day, seeing everybody supporting him," Jones said. "It's definitely a great cause and we hope everybody comes out and supports him."
Center Chris Myers and left tackle Duane Brown spearheaded an effort to raise $100,000 in Quessenberry's name for the Lymphoma Research Foundation. They partnered with Running Game Clothing to get the shirts made. Colts' head coach Chuck Pagano, a leukemia survivor, wore a special "Indianapolis for DQ" shirt on Tuesday in support of Quessenberry.
Jones and his linemates have kept up with Quessenberry, who's been in California undergoing treatment.
"Quessenberry's doing good," Jones said. "He's the one that's going to fight it every day and he's not going to back down from it."
Jones, Myers, Brown and the rest of the offensive line have dedicated the 2014 season to Quessenberry, who's on the active roster non-football illness list.
