DT David Hunter returns to Houston

Defensive tackle David Hunter will spend his third training camp with the Texans and defensive line coach Bill Kollar. The team signed the 6-2, 301-pound Houston native on Thursday, just two days before the start of the 2014 training camp. Hunter returns to Houston via a brief stint with the Tampa Bay Buccanneers.

The Texans first signed Hunter as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2012. The University of Houston product then made his way from the Texans practice squad to the 53-man roster on October 16. A toe injury suffered in practice ended Hunter's season before he had a chance to play. Following toe surgery, Hunter made his way back to the Texans camp the next summer, but was released during roster cuts.

The Texans look to add depth at nose tackle with third-round draft pick Louis Nix III placed on the Active/PUP this week.
