Jadeveon Clowney has been lobbying to be the first-overall pick in the NFL Draft. After a final season at South Carolina that did not live up to expectations, the 6-5 defensive end wants to remind NFL organizations what he is capable of accomplishing.

"I think the fact his production dropped as a junior puts some pressure on him to go out there and remind people that he still has all these freakish physical gifts," Josh Kendall of The State newspaper said in an interview with Texans Radio. " I think there's a better chance than not that he does come out and does if not all of the drills, than at least most of the drills."

He also told Kendall, in an exclusive interview, that he wanted the prestige of being the first player chosen.

"It's because I want to be the No. 1 pick, not the money," Clowney said. "I want to be No. 1."

Clowney is attending Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Alabama this week. He spoke with the media, answered questions, and watched his peers practice even though he won't be playing in Saturday's game. He even met Texans head coach Bill O'Brien.

Several teams, in addition to the Texans with the first-overall pick, will be evaluating quarterbacks in the first round of the draft, scheduled for May 8-10. Clowney hopes to impress teams with his performance at next month's Combine in Indianapolis.

As a sophomore, Clowney may have been the undisputed No. 1 in last year's draft. His production dropped off significantly in his junior season. He recorded 36 tackles and just three sacks after putting up 50 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks the year before.

Clowney will be part of draft class that includes a record-high 98 underclassmen who have been granted eligibility.
