Lamar Miller on first Pro Bowl, offseason training

Just weeks into his offseason, Lamar Miller was back on the football field for his first-ever Pro Bowl experience. The Texans starting running back chatted with former teammates, current teammates and the NFL's elite during Wednesday's practice at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.

"It's great," Miller said. "It's my first one. I've always been a second or third alternate but to actually play in the game, live a childhood dream, it's always good. I mean, of course we want to be in the Super Bowl, but outside of that, being able to come out here and play in the Pro Bowl, it's a great experience."

Miller ran for 973 yards on 210 carries and scored five rushing touchdowns in 14 games this season. He also caught 25 passes for 163 yards and one receiving touchdown. Despite missing two games due to injury, Miller finished fourth in the AFC in carries and fifth in rushing yards this season.

After his success last season, Miller said he'll "stick to the script" as far as his offseason training in 2019. Last year, Miller dropped about eight pounds by cutting out red meat and incorporating more fish, chicken and vegetables. Pleased with how he felt heading into his seventh season, Miller plans to drop a few more pounds this year too.

"I'm going to try and lose more weight than I what I was (at) last year," Miller said. "I think just being explosive – that was something that I was working on, breaking long runs, being explosive so that's something I may try to keep improving on because as you get older, the age kicks in. so, I'm going to try and keep my explosiveness and just continue to build."

The 2019 NFL Pro Bowl takes place on Sunday, January 27 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
