Louis Nix III recovering from knee surgery

Rookie nose tackle Louis Nix III is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

"We felt like we wanted to make sure that we could have a healthy Louis Nix and not have to manage him throughout the season," O'Brien said Saturday. "As an organization, we decided to do arthroscopic surgery before training camp. I believe, from what I hear from our medical people, that he's working well and he's becoming closer and closer to being able to be back out there at some point."

Nix, the third-round draft pick from Notre Dame (83rd overall), was placed on the Active/PUP list before the start of training camp.
