Nearly ten months after being injured, All-Pro inside linebacker Brian Cushing is officially cleared to play, as reported by ProFootballTalk.com. On Wednesday Cushing was cleared by surgeon Dr. James Andrews and is expected to be ready for Texans training camp.
"As far as camp goes, the first day, I'll be out there; I'll be in pads," Cushing said at Reliant Stadium on June 14. "As far as how much I'll do in camp, I'm not sure yet, but I know I will definitely be doing a good amount of it, try to get a preseason game in for sure, just knock some of that rust off and be 100 percent come the first game."
Cushing played just five games in the 2012 campaign before suffering a season-ending ACL injury in his left knee. He was hurt on an illegal "peel back" block during the Texans' 23-17 win over the Jets on October 8. The infration was not flagged but guard Matt Slauson was later fined $10,000 for violating league rules.
