Texans Gameday culinary partners nominated for James Beard awards

Houston is a city known for its restaurant scene, but Texans games are also a top culinary destination to be enjoyed by fans.

On Wednesday, The James Beard Foundation announced its semifinalists for the 2019 awards, recognizing the best chefs and restaurants in 50 more than categories. This year, three of the Texans culinary partners are semi-finalists for the prestigious James Beard awards.

Chris Shepherd, who won a James Beard award in 2014, has been nominated for Outstanding Chef. Shepherd's new restaurant Georgia James has a home on the club level of NRG Stadium. The Original Ninfa's on Navigation is up for Outstanding Restaurant and also has a location on the stadium's club level. Ronnie Killen, renowned in Houston for Killen's Barbecue and Killen's Steakhouse, is a semifinalist for Best Chef Southwest. Killen's offers an expanded menu at locations in sections 109 and 129 at NRG Stadium.

The James Beard Foundation will announce the finalists for its 2019 Restaurant and Chef Awards on March 27 in Houston. The 2019 James Beard Awards will be held April 26 in New York City (Media Awards) and May 6 in Chicago (Restaurant and Chef, Restaurant Design categories).
