Texans waste no time, score quickly on second possession

After taking their time to score on the opening drive of the game, the Texans struck quickly on their next possession to take the lead over New England.

QB Davis Mills linked up with WR Chris Moore for a 67-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter.

It was just the third play of that drive, as Mills found RB David Johnson for a 7-yard completion, and then RB Phillip Lindsay picked up a yard on the ground.

So on 3rd-and-2 from the Texans' 33-yard line, Mills went to Moore up the right sideline. The veteran WR, who was pulled up from the practice squad on Saturday, gathered it in, stayed in bounds, then burst to the middle of the field and outran the defense for a score.

K Ka'imi Fairbairn's point-after try was no good, and the Texans held a 12-6 advantage with 13:09 remaining in the second quarter.

The score was Moore's first as a Texan. It was Mills' second touchdown pass of the day and his fourth of 2021.
