The 49ers are talking about the Texans | Enemy Intel

49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan on the Texans: I see a team that is really playing hard. Everybody on it. It looks like there's not a choice for that. It's not a surprise what they did last week, and I think that's why they're playing better on offense, too. I think they'll surprise some people next year.

49ers Defensive Coordinator DeMeco Ryans on Texans QB Davis Mills: "He goes through his progressions really well for a young guy, and he can find the open spot in zone coverage. He's done a good job over the past couple weeks. You can see how they've been effective over the past couple weeks and able to win some games, based on the run game and his play. You can tell he's a very smart guy. They don't give him a lot, but the things that he has, he's mastered those things, and he does a really good job. I can see the confidence in him, from when he first started out the year up until the recent games."

49ers LB Fred Warner on Mills: I think he's done a great job. I hadn't really heard a lot about him before actually watching the tape, but then, actually watching the tape. I was pretty impressed. They do a good job of keeping things fairly simple for him. They want to make sure that they're efficient with the football. He's smart with his decision-making. Can make all the throws. Has that saavy to be able to extend plays with his legs and get the ball down the field. I was really impressed with what I saw. I know they want to get their run game going to kind of help him out to get him going in the passing game.

49ers DB Jimmie Ward on Mills: He has a quick release. Not afraid to throw those deep-out routes. He has the arm to do it. He trusts his wide receivers. Doesn't hesitate too much. I think he's processing the game well. He can read a defense too. He's knows where he wants to go with the ball. Especially his first and second read depends on the disguise that he's shown. He's really great at being a decision-maker.

Ryans on the Texans offense: They're going to lean on their run game. That's how you help the rookie quarterback, is definitely leaning on the run game. They've done a good job, definitely the past week, where they've run the ball very consistent. Over 100 yards rushing last week. So first things first, we have to stop the run game.

49ers TE George Kittle about the Texans Defense: My favorite thing about the Texans defense is that they got three of my former teammates at Iowa, with Jaleel Johnson, Desmond King ll and (Christian) Kirksey. So I'm excited to play with all of them. Desmond and Jaleel I graduated with. So, fun to see that. Kirksey, I remember my freshman year at Iowa used to throw me to the ground all the time. So, a little payback there. See ya later, Kirks. They just fly around to the football, and they create so many turnovers. They're always around the ball. They're always punching for the football. Their whole team chases the ball down. There's always people coming up behind, trying to punch the ball out.
