Quarterback Matt Schaub was limited in practice on Wednesday with an injury to his ribs, but he'll be fine for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"He's going to play," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. "I know he's sore. He took a good shot (against the Chargers on Sunday), but Matt has played hurt for this team before. For him to be out here, I didn't think he'd do much today. He basically did everything that he does on Wednesdays. He's working in the right direction. We'll see where he's at each day."

Linebacker Xavier Adibi (hamstring), tight end Owen Daniels (hamstring) and wide receiver Andre Johnson (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.

"That's just his normal deal," Kubiak said of Johnson. "You won't see him on Wednesdays, probably, for the rest of the year."

MRI for JohnsonJohnson said he had an MRI on Monday to check up on his high-right ankle sprain. He also had an MRI a couple of weeks ago.

"Looking at it, I haven't had any setbacks or anything," he said. "The biggest thing is just getting it to feel comfortable. I still have a little swelling in my joint, so that's what's causing the little pain that I have at times. The biggest thing now is just trying to just get that swelling out of there."

Johnson said that didn't tweak his ankle at any time during the Chargers game and was "feeling pretty good" walking around on Wednesday. He expects to increase his physical activity on Thursday and Friday.

Still in the training roomDaniels, who was inactive against San Diego, stayed in the training room during practice like he did for all of last week.

"He is improving," Kubiak said. "They are just working with him inside every day. It doesn't do him much good to come out here right now. He's not ready for the field. We'll get out here at some point."

More CaseyKubiak said that he expects to see more of second-year tight end James Casey this weekend. Casey had a career-high four catches for 48 yards against the Chargers.

"He's playing very, very well," Kubiak said. "I think I told y'all last week I expected him to play well, and he did. (He has) a lot of confidence on the practice field."

Battling the elementsPractice went on without a hitch on Wednesday despite a driving rainstorm that passed over the Methodist Training Center for about 15 minutes.

"(It was) pouring down rain in some parts and guys were still flying around like it was hot and sunny out there," Johnson said. "You can definitely see the determination, the want in the team."

Kubiak was impressed with his team's first practice of the week.

"The only way to get through struggles and disappointment is to work through them, and we are working like hell right now," he said. "Everybody's got a good attitude to stay positive and keep pushing…

"Everybody's got the right frame of mind and everybody is just itching to get a victory. The only way we are going to get that is to keep working, and today was a step in the right direction."
