Arian Foster's Draft Day makes debut in Houston

The All-Pro Arian Foster, who never experienced an NFL Draft, puts his acting skills to the test in his first feature film, Draft Day, which opens in theaters Friday.

The Houston Texans held a VIP Draft Day movie premiere for suite holders and club season ticket members at the Studio Movie Grill on Thursday night. Before the viewing, fans had a chance to meet Foster at the pre-show meet-and-greet at the Houston Texans Grille. Foster signed autographs and spoke with the media about his Hollywood debut.

"The movie is awesome in my opinion; I might be a little biased because I'm in it," Foster said, jokingly. "I read the script beforehand and it was an interesting script. It was page-turner, kept me guessing and I'm just grateful to be a part of it. It was a fun project."

In Draft Day, general manager Sonny Weaver, played by Kevin Costner, must decide which player he wants to select after trading for the first-overall pick. Foster plays running back Ray Jennings, one of three players being considered. The film, directed and produced by Ivan Reitman, also stars Jennifer Garner and Denis Leary, with special appearances by a number of celebrities and NFL stars.

Former first-round draft picks, Duane Brown and Whitney Mercilus, also attended the meet-and-greet and were excited about Foster's big night.

"You don't find many athletes that can take that step into Hollywood while they are still playing and do a great job," Brown said. "I salute him and I commend him on it."

Foster's love of acting goes back to his high school days when he was involved in improv and theater. The three-time Pro Bowler said he showed up to film shoots well-prepared because he didn't want to disrespect the craft.

"It was a very humbling experience and a great opportunity," Foster said. "Just meeting many people I'll be friends with for a long time."
