Arian Foster throws TD pass in win

Arian Foster has plenty of rushing touchdowns (8) and receiving touchdowns (4) this season, but on Sunday he picked up his first passing score against the Baltimore Ravens.

"Everybody wants to be a quarterback, but I feel like I have a good arm so I've been lobbying since I've been in the NFL," Foster said, smiling. "They finally caught it."

Foster is one of the best players at his position in the NFL, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. His arm is no longer a secret weapon as he displayed in the Texans 25-13 win over the Ravens.

"He can throw the football," O'Brien said. "He's got that ability. I mean, throw it very well."

With 1:53 remaining in the second quarter, Case Keenum pitched the ball to Foster who threw a five-yard touchdown pass to rookie C.J. Fiedorowicz.

"We've been running that play the last two or three weeks in practice," Fiedorowicz said. "When we were on the six-yard line, that was our goal, to get that play run. Coach (O'Brien) called it. There was a toss to Arian to make it look like we were doing an outside run play. He ended up dropping back and throwing that pass, so it worked perfectly."

Foster didn't downplay his success at quarterback, saying the throw was "very difficult" with a defender in front of him.

"I'm just great at quarterback," Foster said, joking. "I'm mean, we've been practicing it. Never with a person tackling me before, but I just kind of trusted that he was going to get off the block and be there and there he was."

Foster's throw, his first career pass attempt, is also the first passing touchdown by a running back this season in the the NFL.

"We've got a number of ways for him to throw the ball in the package that we used today with wildcat," O'Brien said. "We had some throws there that we just hadn't used yet."

The Texans haven't recored a passing touchdown by a non-quarterback since 2002. Both wide receiver Jabar Gaffney and running back James Allen threw touchdown passes that season, connecting with Corey Bradford and Billy Miller, respectively.

Foster also rushed for 96 yards on 25 carries and added one catch for 23 yards in the Texans win.
