Bob, Janice McNair help students pay for college

Texans Founder, Chairman and CEO Bob and his wife Janice McNair are once again making college a reality for 192 graduating seniors in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Through the Robert and Janice McNair Education foundation, the McNairs awarded $5,600.00 scholarships totaling over $1,108,800.00. Many of the recipients will be among the first in their family to go to college, according to WYFF NBC-Greenville. In their caps and gowns, graduating seniors walked the halls of local elementary and middle schools last week as an inspiration to younger students.

Bob McNair grew up in nearby Forest City and created the scholarship program to make college a possibility for students in those rural areas. Bob and Janice McNair have given scholarships to Rutherford County students, granting 2,239 scholarships worth $8,867,480.00 to date.

For nearly 30 years, the Robert and Janice McNair Foundation has donated scholarships to an array of charitable, scientific, literary, educations and religious organizations including the Baylor College of Medicine's MD/PhD Program, and scholarship initiatives at the University of South Carolina, Columbia College, Newberry College, Austin College, Virginia Tech and Houston Community College.
