Brian Cushing to return for training camp

Brian Cushing is not a full-go for OTA practice, but that should change by the time training camp is underway. After Monday's practice, head coach Bill O'Brien praised the leadership of the veteran linebacker now entering his sixth season with the Texans.

"Brian Cushing is a team guy, he's a team-first guy," O'Brien said. "He wants to win and he's getting a lot of mental reps. There's not much he can do what ails him right now. He'll be back for training camp."

Cushing, who underwent season-ending knee surgery last October, has been at the Houston Methodist Training Center practice field for OTAs. Despite not being able to participate, Cushing is making his presence known, according to O'Brien.

"He's out there every day and he's one of the leaders of our football team. He's been around, he's played a lot of football. He's played well for this organization and he's obviously out there taking mental reps and also helping the younger guys."
