Brock Osweiler's familiarity with Patriots

Brock Osweiler on rematch with Patriots
Brock Osweiler was only in his second start when he last faced the New England Patriots on Nov. 29, 2015. With a rematch just days away, Osweiler feels like he's a much better quarterback since that day.
"I feel like I've grown in leaps and bounds. Just understanding how to manage an NFL game, how to operate a game plan, how to prepare during the week, how to be a great teammate. I feel like I've grown a lot since that start."
Osweiler led the Broncos on a late comeback, rallying from a 14-point deficit to hand the Patriots their first loss of the season. He completed 23-of-42 passes for 270 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Denver faced New England again in the AFC Championship game. The Texans starting quarterback believes his prior experience playing and preparing against New England will benefit him.
"I think it gives me a huge help moving into this week, especially with it being a short week," Osweiler said. "We don't have a ton of time to watch film, to game plan, to practice. So for me to have a little bit of experience playing against them I think will be a big help."
Osweiler was sacked three times while the New England defense was credited with seven quarterback hits in the win. The fifth-year veteran joked that he definitely remembered he didn't feel so great on Monday morning after the hits.
"The one thing I do remember is obviously New England has a little bit of a blitz package on third down and that's something that I'm going to go back and look at," Osweiler said. "My game from last year with Denver when we played them and really look at and say 'How could I be better in protection? Was there something that maybe I could have done to eliminate some of those hits?'"
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been impressed with Osweiler's poise and toughness despite pressure from opposing defenses.
"He's big, a big strong guy that can hang in there and he has hung in there and made some tough throws," Belichick said via conference call Monday. "He does a good job of getting the ball to all of his receivers. He uses the tight ends, the backs, and obviously the wide outs. He gets the ball down the field and has a nice touch on the short-to-intermediate balls, so a good player. He has been impressive."
