BWTB: Andre Johnson to join Ring of Honor

!
Andre Johnson is coming home...for good.

As you might have seen yesterday, the Texans announced their game themes for the 2017 season. But, to most Texans fans, one theme stood out above all the rest (at least that's what we heard on social media). The creative imagery we used put it front and center, and judging by the comments, was quite the surprise to our faithful. I'll let the release explain.

*"Coinciding with the Homecoming Game presented by Palais Royal on Sunday, Nov. 19 against the Arizona Cardinals, the Texans will induct Andre Johnson as the inaugural member of the team's Ring of Honor during a halftime ceremony. The former Texans receiver, who spent 12 seasons with the team, signed a one-day contract on Wednesday, April 19 to officially retire as a member of the Texans. Johnson earned seven Pro Bowl berths with Houston and remains the team's all-time leader in receptions (1,012), receiving yards (13,597) and receiving touchdowns (64)."

*You read that right. Andre Johnson will be the first Texans player in history inducted into our newly created Ring of Honor. The ceremony will take place during halftime of November 19th's game against the Cardinals. As mentioned above, Andre Johnson officially retired a Texan this past April 19, putting a Houston sized bookend on his amazing player career. Johnson's legacy is unmatched, and makes him the perfect player to be the first to capture this amazing organizational honor. With the Texans still being a relatively new franchise, having such a signature star be the first inducted into your team's historic Ring of Honor will be a great moment for Texans fans all over the world.

I know you all probably have a ton of questions, and to be honest, the answers aren't a 100 percent accounted for yet. So, I'll try to share what we know.

Where will the Ring of Honor be at NRG Stadium?
We are down to a few locations, but nothing is certain as of right now.

What will the ceremony consist of?
You think I'm going to spoil the surprise?

Will there be activities leading up to the game that fans can participate in?
Most certainly. On the social side (which is what I help oversee), I know we'll do some fun fan memory/interaction stuff to celebrate the GOAT.

Will other players get inducted?
Again, Andre is the first, so we are focused on that. But will there be more. Of course. This is a Ring of Honor. But who? When? No idea at this point.

My advice? Don't worry about the details yet. Just know that the greatest Texans of all-time is coming home...for good. #ThankYouAndre
