Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar unveiled

Texans Cheerleader twins Larisa and Marisa, co-Miss Augusts, talk to Texans TV in front of their calendar photo at the unveiling of the Texans Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar at the Bulls and Birdies Golf Tournament.

The wait was over for more than 100 Texans fans on Wednesday, as the Texans Cheerleaders unveiled their inaugural swimsuit calendar at the annual Bulls and Birdies Golf Tournament hosted by the Southern Texas PGA at Cypresswood Golf Club.

The four-player scramble featured 30 teams, with proceeds from the day going to the Texans Cheerleader Charity and the Southern Texas PGA Foundation. Two calendar girls were stationed at various holes along the course with 8' x 6' photos revealing their respective calendar poses.

Each golfer received a calendar and had the opportunity not only to meet and take pictures with the girls but to have them sign the calendars. Some of the golfers didn't stop there, prodding the cheerleaders into taking a few golf swings as well.

"Danielle (Miss January) got to putt and I got to putt," Miss February Janna said. "It's a lot of fun hanging out with everybody and getting to meet them up close and personal, and they actually get it signed first off. And this is all going to charity, so it's such a great honor to be in it and it's such a great honor to actually be doing this for the organization."

For other cheerleaders, the golfing experience didn't go quite as smoothly.

"We had a team that asked us if we would hit a few balls around," Miss July Lindsay said. "And it went – it was OK. We made a few holes in the ground. We re-filled our divots as you're supposed to do I hear. So we need a little more practice, but I think we might go hit a few driving ranges and we'll be better next time."

{QUOTE}Texans Cheerleaders alumna Catie, on the squad last season, gave the tournament participants all they could handle at the "Cheerleader Challenge."

"They brought me back out because they're calling me the resident cheerleader pro golfer, which is questionable," she said. "But what we're doing is a closest to the pin, or you hit inside my shot you get golf balls, and it all goes to benefit the Southern Texas PGA Jr. Golf Association.

"It's been fun; I think I've beat four golfers. I think 12 (of my shots) have gone into the sandtrap and like two have gone behind me, and then a couple of them went well. We're having fun, though."

But most of the cheerleaders, such as Miss May Samantha, were strictly on the sidelines on this day.

"We've just been spectators today," the captain of the Texans Cheerleaders said. "Unfortunately, I don't know how to play golf. So hopefully I'll learn one day, but the guys have been giving me some tips so maybe I can use that later on."

The calendar goes on sale Thursday at the **Cheerleader Calendar Launch** at Academy Sports and Outdoors' Westheimer and Voss location, where fans will have a chance to meet each of the 15 Texans Cheerleaders calendar girls from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

"When we say 15, people get confused, but there's a front cover, a back cover and then you can't forget the twins – they count as two people," calendar cover girl Celina said. "We're going to be placed throughout the store and people get to come and hunt us down and get our autograph."

All proceeds from calendar sales will benefit the Houston Texans Foundation and the Methodist DeBakey Heart Center.
