Cushing expected to clear concussion protocol Friday

Brian Cushing is expected to be cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol by Friday. After suffering a concussion in the third quarter of Sunday's game against Seattle, Cushing has been active in the team's preparations for San Francisco, including Wednesday's practice.

"Cushing did participate in what we did today," head coach Gary Kubiak said.

On Wednesday the team held a light, "jog-through" practice in the Houston Methodist Training Center. Kubiak said it was to allow more players to participate that would not otherwise be able to in a regular practice.

Cushing, who is in the midst of the league's concussion protocol, would have been one of those players. The good news is that he may be cleared by the end of the week.

"He won't get through that probably until Friday but he's headed in the right direction," Kubiak said. "He's doing good and participated today, which has to happen throughout the course of the week."
